What this Telegram MCP server does

MCP connects an AI client to a service’s tools. Postlyra lets you compose a structured post, save or find a draft, review its preview and manage publishing to a connected Telegram channel or group. It is an author’s content workspace. Personal chat history and MTProto automation of your Telegram user account are outside this public MCP.

Connect the server and your channel

Postlyra is a hosted server at https://postlyra.app/mcp, using Streamable HTTP and OAuth. You do not need a local server or to give your AI a Telegram bot token. Your client must support remote HTTP MCP and OAuth; access depends on its version and account policies.

  1. Sign into Postlyra and connect your channel or group with the necessary bot rights.
  2. Add https://postlyra.app/mcp in your client’s remote MCP settings and complete Postlyra authorization.
  3. Ask for your available destinations with list_channels. Verify the name and publishing permission.

Choose a compatible AI client

Use a remote connector for Claude. The connection page provides client configuration for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. A model name alone does not establish MCP support: transport, OAuth and a working tool list matter. For ChatGPT, the primary setup is installing Postlyra from its published plugin directory listing and connecting your account.

Create a rich draft and review its preview

Ask your AI to read Postlyra’s formatting capabilities, structure your material and save it as a draft. Headings, lists and tables are document blocks. Plain text with formatting characters does not replace that structure. The saved draft is available in the same account in your browser and Telegram Mini App.

  1. Supply your source text and links; specify which facts must stay unchanged.
  2. Ask to see the preview. Check the text, block order, media and validation errors.
  3. When editing an existing document, preserve its other blocks and preview it again.

Publish to a named connected Telegram channel

Read list_channels and check the exact destination name first. After reviewing the draft, give a separate instruction such as: “Publish the reviewed Weekly recap draft now to the connected channel Studio news.” Studio news is an illustrative name; replace it with yours. Publishing sends the material; saving or previewing a draft does not. The bot needs publishing rights.

  1. Check the draft version, destination and mandatory Postlyra attribution.
  2. Ask for the operation result. queued or retrying means pending, rather than delivered.
  3. If the status is unclear, check the publication and Telegram channel before sending again.

Schedule with an exact date and time zone

To schedule a publication, specify the reviewed post, connected channel, future date, time and zone. For example: “Schedule this draft in Studio news on [date] at 10:00 Europe/London; show the scheduled entry.” Replace the date and channel with yours. Your AI supplies an exact timestamp with a UTC offset. Check the publication list or the Postlyra calendar. Later draft edits do not automatically update the saved version of a scheduled publication.

A prompt for your AI client

Use Postlyra. Read its formatting capabilities first. Turn my text below into a draft titled Weekly recap: a heading, a short introduction, a news list and source links. Preserve the facts; do not invent dates or numbers. Show the preview and its review link. Do not publish yet.

Frequently asked questions

Can this Telegram MCP read my personal chats?

This public MCP works with your Postlyra content and connected destinations. It does not provide personal conversation history or MTProto automation of your Telegram user account. Those workflows need a different integration.

Why is my connected channel missing?

Check that you signed into the same Postlyra account where the channel is connected. Review Connections, the destination and bot rights, then call list_channels again. An empty list does not mean your AI has read all your Telegram chats.

What if tools or OAuth do not load?

Check https://postlyra.app/mcp, remote HTTP MCP and OAuth support in your client, workspace permissions and completion of authorization. Reconnect if permissions have changed. In Claude, choose automatic registration when an OAuth client option is shown. You can revoke access in Postlyra security settings.

Do I need AI, and how do I check the final layout?

No. You can edit the draft in your browser or Mini App. The preview helps check the document; final rendering depends on the Telegram client. For important formatting, first send the reviewed post to your own test channel. Image and interactive card display inside an AI conversation depend on the client; use the preview link when needed.
